There are several methods of English language teaching and the direct method is one of them.Direct method: It is also known as a natural and anti-grammatical method, it facilitates the active participation of students.It focuses on speaking skills and emphasizes learning the target language directly without translating it into the mother tongue. It is used in teaching English/foreign language directly without using the mother tongue.This method builds a direct relationship/association between words and ideas, experiences and language, thoughts and expressions, rules and performances without any help from the learners mother tongue language.Thus, it is concluded that mother tongue is not used at all in direct method.HintTranslation method is an approach that refers to translating the meaning of narratives or text into another language.Activity-based learning method is an approach that refers to the involvement of learners in specially designed activities, in which they enjoy maximum autonomy.Eclectic Method is a flexible and child-centered approach to language teaching which allows a language teacher to absorb and use the best techniques of all the well-known language teaching methods in their classroom.
