Sign language is a visual language that uses handshapes (the shape of the hand for different words or letters of the alphabet), movements, facial expressions, and body language to convey meaning. Every sign language has a comprehensive vocabulary and its own grammatical rules.These grammatical rules are different from that of spoken languages.Sign language is a natural language used by people with different degrees of hearing loss.Communities of individuals with hearing impairment throughout the world use their own sign language.Each sign language has developed separately and each is a distinct language.The facial expressions and body movements involved too differ from one sign language to another.The Indian Sign Language (ISL) is the sign language used by the deaf community in India. It is one language. Like all other languages, it has grown over time and has developed regional variations.Hence, it is concluded that Sign Language has grammar and a natural language is true of sign language.
