Environmental studies include the study of the environment and its attributes. It provides an approach to understanding the environment and the impact of human life on it. EVS at the primary levelAccording to NCF 2005, EVS is an integrated subject area at the primary level that incorporates concepts from science (physical, chemical, and biological), social studies (history, geography, political science, sociology, etc), and environmental education (protection and conservation).Its goal is to help children acquire a holistic or integrated perspective of the environment in which they live.EVS focuses on exposing children to the actual world they live in and exploring and connecting with their insights into the functioning of several things in their environment.Hence, we conclude that EVS, in primary classes is a subject area that integrates the concepts and issues of science, social studies, and environmental education.
