Community-based learning helps learners in building a sense of connection to their communities. Family society and community play a very significant role in informal education. The role of community is very important for the child because it helps in shaping the behavior of the child. A community is a school in itself for history, literature, cultural heritage, and natural environments. Community or society can play also an important role in formal education. We can utilize the community as a learning resource in the following manner:Guidance Services: Community members can give guidance services to learners. Older members of the community and experts in different areas can help learners with their valuable guidance.Lecture of Guests: In the schools, experts from the different areas can be invited for delivering lectures and presentations. These guests may be experts in any area as social workers, mathematicians, doctors, scientists, social scientists, sportspeople, etc.Community Participation: In this approach, learners would learn, at least in part, by actively participating in their community. For example, learners may undertake a research project on any local problem with NGO.Instructional Connections: In this form of community-based teaching and learning, a teacher makes a clear and purposeful relationship between the content which has been taught in the classroom and local issues and contexts.
