Environmental studies- It includes the study of the environment and its attributes. It provides an approach towards understanding the environment and the impact of human life on it. Objectives of teaching EVS at the primary levelTo teach children how to locate and comprehend relationships between the natural, social and cultural environment.To develop the curiosity and creativity of the child, particularly about the natural environment including people and artifacts.To develop an awareness of environmental issues.To engage children in exploratory and hands-on activities to acquire basic cognitive and psychomotor skills through observation, classification, inference, etc.Development of process skills like observing, grouping, measuring, communicating, and reading.To develop an understanding based on observation and illustration drawn from their experiences and physical, biological, social, and cultural aspects of life instead of abstractions.Hence, we conclude that the objective of teaching EVS at the primary level is to develop an awareness of environmental issues.
