Solution:

Both statements are True. Indian textiles decline because of tough competition from Europe and American textiles and high duties imposed when importing material into Britain. From the 1680s, Indian textiles were a craze in England and Europe due to their beautiful designs, textures, and relative cheapness. During British rule, the output from the Indian textile industry deteriorated. The British flooded the Indian market with machine-made textiles and The fabric was cheap, affordable, and readily available. This was the single largest reason for the decline of our textile industry. The British increased the taxes on the import of Indian cloth into Britain. Hence, India‚¬„¢s exports also fell dramatically. The British also actively exported Indian cotton to the mills outside India. So, the Indian textile industry had competed with them for raw materials as well. Different varieties of Indian textiles were sold in the Western markets; for example, Chintz, Cossaesor Khassa, Bandanna, and Jamdani.
