SWAYAM:SWAYAM or Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds is a program initiated by the Government of India and designed to achieve the three cardinal principles of Education policy viz. , access, equity, and quality. The aim of this effort is to take the best teaching-learning resources to all, including the most disadvantaged. The courses hosted on SWAYAM are in 4 quadrants - 1) video lecture, 2) specially prepared reading material that can be downloaded/printed, 3) self-assessment tests through tests and quizzes and 4) an online discussion forum for clearing the doubts. e-Yantra:Project e-Yantra, not e- Tantra is an initiative to spread education in embedded systems and Robotics by IIT Bombay sponsored by Ministry of Human Resource Development through the National Mission on Education through ICT (NMEICT). Its major objective is to provide hands-on learning to engineering students who have limited access to labs and mentors. In 2002, Prof. Kavi Arya started the distance education program at IIT Bombay and started teaching Embedded systems, as the Program Co-ordinator. The goal of e-Tantra is to complement Higher Education systems worldwide and solve local problems across a variety of domains like Agriculture, Disaster, Manufacturing, Defence, Home, Smart cities, and Service industries through technology. The mission of this project is to create the next generation of engineers with a practical outlook to help in providing pragmatic solutions to real-world problems.
