Second FIR filed against Kapil Sharma, police to probe bribery angle
MUMBAI: The Versova police on Wednesday registered a second First Information Report (FIR) against comedian and actor Kapil Sharma for allegedly destroying mangroves behind the bungalow that houses his office in connivance with civic officials.
The FIR came on the basis of a court direction that the corruption allegation in the matter be covered in the complaint. The first FIR was only about destruction of mangroves and encroachment in Versova. The police generally do not register two FIRs related to one incident.
Since Sharma had alleged that civic officials had demanded a bribe from him, an activist approached the court requesting a probe into the graft and bribery angle.”It is obvious that Sharma extended the bungalow illegally in connivance with civic officials. The police need to investigate the bribery aspect,” said advocate Aditya Pratap, who represented the complainant in the case.
After hearing his plea, magistrate Amitabh Panchbhai ordered the Versova police to register the second FIR.
