Milk yield in kg from the date of calving to date of drying is known as?

A.
Age of 1st calving
B.
Dry period
C.
Lactation yield
D.
Peak yield

Solution:

The correct answer is Lactation yield. The lactation yield in a lactation period is known as lactation yield or milk yield in kg from the date of calving to the date of drying is known as Lactation Yield. The lactation yield in Indian breeds is very low compared to exotic breeds. This is dependent on the number of calving frequency of milking and persistency of yield. Normally in daily cattle, 30 to 40% increase in milk production from the first lactation to maturities observed. After 3 or 4 lactations the production starts declining. After parturition, the milk yield per day will be increased and reaches a peak within 2 to 4 weeks after calving the yield is known as peak yield. The maintenance of peak yield for more time is important for better milk production.
