Explanation:The first milk secreted after parturition is called œColostrum. Colostrum contains antibodies that protect the calf against various diseases. Colostrum offers a balanced feed for newborn calves. Colostrums contains 7 times of protein and twice the total solids of normal milk. Colostrum contains a high amount of minerals and vitamin A to combat diseases. Colostrums give a laxative effect which is helpful in the expulsion of meconium (first feces)Feeding colostrum to the calf within 15-30 minutes after birth is highly useful. The limit of liquid feeding is 10% of their body weight with a maximum of 5-6 liters per day as overfeeding causes Calf scours. The number of colostrums to be fed is 1/10th of body weight in the case of cattle and 1/15th of body weight in the case of Buffalo. 15 - 30 minutes of life - 5 - 8 % of body weight10 - 12 hours of life - 5 - 8 % of body weight2nd day - 10% of body weight3rd day - 10% of body weight
