Language learning is the process of learning to speak and understand a foreign language. It helps children to acquire practical commands of language. It is a result of deliberate and conscious effort for a better understanding of foundational skills of language learning. Here, the learners in groups have to interact and order the food item to eat on the above condition. This is known as a task in teaching-learning.A task is an activity where the target language is used by the learner for a communicative purpose. It is a 'piece of work' undertaken for oneself or others, freely or for some reward.It involves the engagement of learners with language.It ensures the growth of learners' knowledge and assesses their level of understanding. It is an authentic source to determine that the classroom teaching is resulting in actual knowledge enhancement of the learners.The task in language learning should provide an opportunity of learning by doing as students learn to the maximum extent by doing themselves.Thus, it is concluded that the above-given piece of work in language teaching-learning is known as a task.
