Different teaching methods are used by teachers as per the requirements of students. For choosing the one, the teacher may classify students based on their abilities (ability grouping) or he can choose it based on the compatibility of the topic.Spellings are basically parts of writing skills, they constitute the basic structure of a sentence that forms a bigger part of written communication. It's considered one of the effective ways to improve spelling. Listening to dictation demands concentration on the part of pupils. Besides concentration, it is an exercise in retention and writing accurately, neatly, and legibly with a good speed.Drill method:The drill method is based upon the Law of Exercise as it includes the practices and exercises to repeat the acquired knowledge to achieve expertise in it. In the case of language learning, learners practice the words and learn the spelling easily.A learner who makes use of sufficient drill work, practice work, revision, and review of his learning can be expected to harvest a good yield in terms of its good retention, reproduction, and utilization at the proper time.HintDirect method is used to teach English/foreign language directly without using the mother tongue. This method builds a direct relationship between words and ideas, experiences and language, thoughts and expressions, rules, and performances without any help of the learners mother tongue. Hence, it is clear that the Direct method is not a method of teaching spelling.
