Which is not a sub-skills of reading?
Language skills are necessary for effective communication in any environment and to interact with others. The four basic language skills and their natural order are listening-speaking-reading-writing. Reading skill is an active skill that includes perception, recognition, association, understanding, organization, and finding meaning. It is a process of looking at a series of written words/symbols and getting meaning from them.Reading sub-skill refers to the well-planned reading approach which helps the learners to comprehend and perceive the meaning of the text effectively. There are different kinds of reading sub-skill including Intensive, Extensive, Scanning, etc.Sub-skills of reading include:Reading aloud and decoding: It is a reading technique that lays emphasis on pronunciation skills and vocabulary building while reading a text in an audible voice so that others can hear you and could decode the information. The practice of loud reading helps in articulation, correct intonation, etc.Scanning a text for information: Scanning involves quickly glancing through the text to find out a specific piece of information. It involves going through a text in search of a specific piece of information; such as searching for a specific name, date, word, phrase, figures, or percentage.Reading for inference: It is an important subskill as inferring is not only about reading expressions, tones, and body language, it is about €œreading€ text, often said as, €œreading between the lines€ where the answers are not explicitly stated.Hence, it is clear that reading for better pronunciation is not a sub-skills of reading.
