National Curriculum Framework is driven with the vision to address issues such as equality of opportunities, assessing learning, quality experiences, educational purposes, etc.There are four NCFs published in India by NCERT and NCF 2005 is one of them. It seeks to provide a framework for the betterment of educational purposes and experiences.According to NCF 2005, learning should be made an enjoyable activity. The curriculum structure and school should be designed to make school a satisfactory place for students to feel secure and valued.The curriculum should focus on the holistic development of the individual. NCF 2005 emphasizes the study of language to develop speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills among the learners.As per NCF, a renewed effort should be made to implement the three-language formula, emphasizing the recognition of childrens home language(s) or mother tongue(s) as the best medium of instruction.Hence, it is clear that the mother tongue is recommended by National Curriculum Framework (NCF 2005) for the 'Instruction Medium' at the primary level.
