Assessment is defined as the process of allotting a quantitative value to students' achievements. It shows the areas where learners have weaknesses and strengths. Children have an innate love of stories. Stories create magic for them. It tells us about the life of others and ourselves. It is a unique way for students to develop an understanding and respect of other cultures.Listening comprehension/skill cannot be measured directly. Some tests provide a window into understanding through open-ended questions that require children to speak, comingling expressive language skills with receptive ability.Listening ability concentrates on helping learners cope with transactional language, but it is equally important to give students the chance to recognize and use features of the interactional language.Retelling, a method of assessment is the best method for evaluating listening skills. It requires listeners to summarize a story or an article from their own perception.Students may be asked to retell a story in their own words in which they will explain the story and its characters from their point of view.Retelling on fluency probes to ensure that children are reading for meaning and not speed and also, it will help a teacher to know if they were listening carefully or not and to which extent they are able to grasp the content while listening.Hence, we can conclude that retelling the story narrated by the teacher is the most suitable assessment activity for assessing learners' listening skills.
