Language skills are necessary for effective communication in any environment and to interact with others. It allows an individual to comprehend and produce language for proper and effective interpersonal communication.The four basic language skills and their natural order are listening-speaking-reading-writing. These foundational skills of language are divided into two categories which are receptive and productive skills.Listening Skill: It is a prerequisite to learning all the other skills in the language. It is a process of deriving the meaning out of what is spokenBottom-up subskill: It proceeds from bottom to top. It is a listening process that focuses on:concentrating on individual words and phrases while listening, rather than the meaning of the text as a whole.decoding messages moving from sounds to words, phrases, clauses, and other grammatical elements to sentences.Recognizing organizational clues is one of the sub-skills of listening.Use phonological cues (sounds, stress, and intonation) to identify the information focused on an utterance.Use grammatical cues to organize the input into constituents (sense groups).Thus, it is concluded that Recognising organizational clues is one of the sub-skills of listening and is a component of the Bottom-up approach to teaching-learning of listening.
