At the primary level, social studies and social science are taught in an integrated manner as Environmental Studies (EVS) which includes six themes (our family, our house, our neighbourhood, our school, our earth, the sky, our body).?The primary level students must be taught about their immediate surroundings first (family, school, neighbourhood) and then about their wider surroundings (society, community).The students must be taught about the simple things first and they should have been taken to the complex concepts.
