Which of the following is not true regarding free activities?

A.
There is a genuine communication
B.
The atmosphere should be informal
C.
There is often a game element
D.
They focus attention on the language

Solution:

Free activities can be described as "children choosing what they want to do, how they want to do it and when to stop and try something else. Free play has no external goals set by adults and has no adult imposed curriculum. It means adults create an environment that is informal in nature. Although adults usually provide the space and resources for free play and might be involved, the child takes the lead and the adults respond to cues from the child. Some important points related to it are:Free Play is a great tool for children to explore and learn about the society they live in and the world around them. A genuine communication among people is needed so that learners can create experiences that will help them to understand how society works and how to interact with other people.Roleplay, for example, forms a leading part of this. Acting out situations such as family life, going to school, hospital visits, going to the shops or taking an animal to the vets, help them to know how to interact with others, to understand their own feelings and to express their emotions.Social skills such as sharing, negotiation and turn-taking can be developed. They can conquer fears and practice adult roles.Importantly, these experiences of free play often involve a game element that can help children deal with and come to terms with new experiences and new environments.Hence, focusing attention on the language is not true regarding free activities as it involves formal method which can limit the free play to some extent.
