EVS Teacher focuses on developing in children curiosity and awareness about their surroundings; knowledge and understanding of their environment and their relationships or connections; developing affect attributes (appreciation, values, and attitudes) and skills of observation and measurement; a collection of information and its processing; creative expressions, etc. Going beyond the textbook" refers to connect the child's conceptual understanding with their own experiences to create authenticity in learning and make them feel familiar with the topic. So, connecting classroom learning with real-life experience will be the appropriate strategy to be followed.Teaching-learning of EVS is as much about attitudes and values as about knowledge and information. teaching strategies used for EVS must allow children to work together, examine multiple viewpoints, link concepts of the textbooks to their real lives, and take positive action.These activities meet different requirements of learners having multiple intelligences. A teacher can ask the students to the nearby park and asking them to observe the birds carefully. By doing this students will gain background knowledge of the birds, along with an overview of how they fly, eat, speak etc and how much they are important for the environment.They will participate in a hands-on demonstration to visually demonstrate.Students will also write a description of each bird, as well as develop their own ideas about birds. They can make a table of contents for the sample taken from the park.Chart, diagrams, posters, flash-cards are a few examples of TLMs which can be used for better understanding.Thus from the above-mentioned points, it is clear that Nalini is using different approaches of learning in order to meet different requirements of learners having multiple intelligences.
