Role Play Method: In a role-play, the student has to act out a person or character. It is an activity which is often taken up in classrooms to promote learning of different kinds. The following are its characteristics:Develops skill in leadership, interviewing and social interaction, group discussionsProvides an opportunity for the student to put herself in another's place and to become more sensitive to another's feelings. For example, 'Sources of Water' can be taught by using this method to enable student's active participation.Develops skills in group problem-solving. It helps the student in identifying critical issues and to come to a neutral agreement.Develops the ability to observe and analyse situationsGives an opportunity to the student to practice selected behaviour in a real-life situation without the stress of making a mistake.Whatever they have learnt previously can be used in a different context by means of a role play.While learning a language, it gives a safe environment for students to rehearse what they have learnt.Hence, we conclude that 'Sources of Water' can be taught by using role-play method to enable student's active participation.
