Solution:

Indian Gorkhas (Bharatiya Gorkha) are Nepali language-speaking Indian citizens. Indian Gorkhas are citizens of India as per the gazette notification of the Government of India on the issue of citizenship of the Gorkhas of India. Important Points Gorkhas:The Gorkhas, a martial tribe came to power in Nepal in the year 1768. They consolidated their military power and began to expand their territory. Gradually the Gorkhas annexed Sirmour and Shimla hill states. With the leadership of Amar Singh Thapa, Gorkhas laid siege to Kangra. They managed to defeat Sansar Chand, the ruler of Kangra, in 1806 with the help of many hill chiefs. However, Gorkhas could not capture Kangra fort which came under Maharaja Ranjeet Singh in 1809. After this defeat, the Gorkhas began to expand towards the south. This resulted in the Anglo-Gorkha war. It was then, Shimla was discovered. Hence, the correct answer is Shimla. Gorkhas came into direct conflict with the English along the Tarai belt after which the English expelled them from the hill states east of the Satluj. Thus British slowly emerged as the paramount powers in this tract. Shimla was built by the British on land they had retained after the Gurkha War of 1814‚¬€œ16. It was used for resting troops. It gained popularity as a summer resort because of its cool climate and scenic setting, and from 1865 to 1939 it served as India‚¬„¢s summer capital. From 1947 to 1953 it was the headquarters of Punjab state until the new capital city of Chandigarh was completed. Besides its administrative function, the city is one of India‚¬„¢s most popular hill resorts. ?Additional InformationDarjeeling: Part of the state of Sikkim, Darjeeling became part of an important buffer state between Nepal and Bhutan. The British, using the area as a sanitorium, found that the climate provided excellent tea-cultivating conditions and soon began to grow tea on the hills of Darjeeling. Darjeeling tea remains a world-renowned export from Darjeeling. Ooty:It was John Sullivan, posted as the Collector of Coimbatore in 1817, who discovered the hill station of Ooty. He along with his team of European and Indian sepoys set out to explore the Nilgiris in 1819; they found Ootacamund after a treacherous expedition that lasted six days. Mount Abu:It is a hill station in the Aravalli Range in Pindwara - Abu Assembly Constituency Of Sirohi district of Rajasthan state in western India, near the border with Gujarat. The mountain forms a rocky plateau 22 km long by 9 km wide. The highest peak on the mountain is Guru Shikhar at 1,722 m (5,650 ft) above sea level.
