Question Bank - ICT

Here's the question bank on all the ICT topics.

A ROM consists of n input lines and m output lines and each but the combination of the input variables called a/an

A.
word
B.
byte
C.
address
D.
bit

Solution:

The correct answer is Address. The information is embedded in the ROM, in the form of bits, by a process known as programming the ROM. Here, programming is used to refer to the hardware procedure which specifies the bits that are going to be inserted in the hardware configuration of the device. It consists of n input lines and m output lines. The k input lines are used to take the input address from where we want to access the content of the ROM. Since each of the n input lines can be either 0 or 1, there are 2^n total addresses that can be referred to by these input lines, and each of these addresses contains m bit information, which is given out as the output of the ROM. Such a ROM is specified as 2^nx m ROM. Hence, the correct answer is Address.
