Which of the following is not a multi-programming operating system?

A.
Windows
B.
MS-DOS
C.
Unix
D.
iOS

Solution:

Important PointsA multi-programming operating system may run many programs on a single processor computer. The primary goal of multi-programming is to manage the entire system's resources. The key components of a multi-programming system are the file system, command processor, transient area, and I/O control system. As a result, multi-programming operating systems are designed to store different programs based on sub-segmenting parts of the transient area. Examples of multiprogramming operating systemsWindows is a group of several proprietary graphical operating system families, all of which are developed and marketed by Microsoft. Unix is an operating system. It supports multitasking and multi-user functionality. Unix is most widely used in all forms of computing systems such as desktops, laptops, and servers. On Unix, there is a Graphical user interface similar to windows that support easy navigation and a supportive environment. iOS is a mobile operating system created and developed by Apple Inc. exclusively for its hardware. It is the operating system that powers many of the company's mobile devices, including the iPhone. Confusion Points?Microsoft Disk Operating System, MS-DOS is a non-graphical command line operating system derived from 86-DOS that was created for IBM compatible computers. MS-DOS allows the user to navigate, open, and otherwise manipulate files on their computer from a command line instead of a GUI like Windows. Therefore, MS-DOS is not a multi-programming operating system.
