SBI Clerk is held once a year in computer-based online mode at the national level. Candidates who clear the SBI Clerk prelims exam are entitled to appear for the mains exam which will be followed by a local language test. SBI Clerk (Junior Associate) is responsible for client interactions and related operations. Candidates who are recruited as SBI Clerks are designated as cashiers, depositors and on other posts.
This is the first stage of SBI Clerk selection process. The preliminary exam is an objective-type test for 100 marks. The duration of the test is one hour. Candidates 10 times the number of vacancies are selected for the mains exam. The mains exam comprises four sections and the total marks of the test are 200. Candidates are required to score minimum percentage marks on aggregate, while five per cent relaxation is provided to SC/ST/OBC/PWD/XS candidates. The merit list is prepared state-wise and category-wise. Candidates qualifying the mains exam are placed according to their aggregate marks in the list, in descending order, as per their respective states and categories.
Candidates have to appear for the test of specified local language opted at the time of applying. Only candidates qualifying the mains exam are required to appear for the test. Candidates not found proficient in the opted local language are disqualified from the recruitment process. Candidates who have studied the specified local language in Class 10 and 12 are not required to appear in the local language test. In the case of others, the local language test is compulsory.
This is subject to qualifying the opted local language test and document verification. The marks obtained in the preliminary exam are not considered for selection. The merit list is prepared based on the marks of the mains exam only.
